Social networking sites are a great tool to use when looking for a job. Sites like Facebook for example are meant for such an endeavor. Let's say you get to chatting with an old college friend of yours and he finds out that they need a Sociology professor at the college in his town, he remembers that you majored in Sociology and got your teaching certification, there you go you just may have a job due to social networking on Facebook.
Maybe the local radio station manager uses Twitter and he's a friend of yours from dinner gatherings and non-profit social events. He decides to post on Twitter that he is looking for a new advertising guru for the radio station. You happen to have a background in advertising. That's an example of how useful a site like Twitter can be.
MySpace.com also has a Job Search option where you can type in the zip code that you want along with the occupation that you are interested in and hopefully it will give you plenty of listings about what you are looking for usually within a three or four county radius. The MySpace job search tool is rather academic, but it is better than having no such tool on the site at all. Within many of the zip codes that you type in you will find that many counties are looking for people in the medical and in particular the nursing field. If you are having trouble using the Job Search tool yourself, you could always ask one of your friends to help. Maybe they can find a job for themselves if they are looking for one as well at the time.
These are just three of the many social networking sites that are out there which can be such a big help when going to find a job.
