Shakespeare once said, “To be or not to be that is the Question.“ Now a days we would say to achieve or not achieve. What I am talking about are goals. Goal setting is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. Why? Without goals you are just floating in a boat without oars. Fitzhugh Dodson said, “Without goals, and plans to reach them, you are like a ship that has set sail with no destination.”
Goal settings is easier then you might think. You just need to follow a few simple rules. First and most important you must write down your goals. When you write down your goals it shows you are willing to take the first step. It shows your commitment toward your goals. Also write down things you are going to do for yourself to reach those goals.
The second step is to keep track of your progress. Every day pick a time to pull out your list of goals and ask yourself three questions. How can I reach my goals? What have I done today to help me reach my goals? What can I do tomorrow to help me reach my goals? Then revise and update your list to met your goals.
Lastly keep working toward your goals until you reach them an then reach higher. The more you work on them the more committed you will become to them. Like Zig Ziglar once said, “What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.”
The real purpose of goals to reach above and beyond yourself to improve yourself. The only real obstacle in your way is you. As John F. Kennedy said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” So set your goals, revise and adjust your goals, and reach above and beyond your goals to improve your life. You will be happier, healthier, and more fulfilled that you did.
